Established on July 14, 2010, The Wide Open Charitable Foundation (WOCF) was created with the intent to fundraise for the research of Neuroblastoma and other Childhood Cancers while supporting children and families battling these diseases.
Our foundation was inspired by the life and love of William Richard Bunn, a young man who courageously fought a vicious disease. Because of William, our foundation strives to help other children and their families as they fight cancer.
Our palate is broad but consists primarily of raising funds for the research of Neuroblastoma and other Childhood Cancers at UNC Children's Hospital. Through William's parents, The Wide Open Charitable Foundation learned about a family's desire to be together especially when facing the frightening reality of cancer. Therefore, our foundation also works personally with families to provide items such as event tickets, dining gift cards and opportunities for other memorable activities.
Since our inception, we have raised and donated over $300,000.00 to N.C. Children's Promise and UNC Children's Hospital for Neuroblastoma Cancer research; over $13,000.00 for Langerhan Cell Histiocytosis research and family support; over $30,000.00 to families in need; and over $40,000.00 in donated games, toys and crafts to the children at the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit at UNC Children's Hospital and Wake Med Hospital.
The Wide Open Charitable Foundation is a registered IRS 501 C3 nonprofit.
